About Us
Interfaith Volunteer Caregivers (IVC) is a non-profit organization established in 1996 and originally organized by local faith communities. Today, an active Board of Directors and a small, devoted staff oversee the program.
IVC receives funding from local faith communities, individual donors, Bainbridge One Call For All, City of Bainbridge through Health Housing and Human Services Council, Bainbridge Community Endowment, and United Way of Kitsap County.
We serve Bainbridge Island residents and some off-island residents. All services are provided free of charge. You do not have to be part of a faith community to receive these services.
Some of our care receivers are:
• Elderly people who want to continue to live in their homes and need help with routine activities they can no longer manage on their own.
• People who may be recovering from a medical condition or a mental or emotional stress and need temporary help with their day-to-day living.
• Over-burdened family caregivers who need a break for a few hours from stressful responsibilities.
• People who live in skilled nursing facilities and need consistent companionship and emotional support.
Some of the services we provide:
• Transportation. Driving and accompanying someone to a health-related appointment. Volunteers can choose to drive on the island, throughout Kitsap County or to Seattle.
